Established by Andrea Mathis around 1900, the Hotel Restorant Lej da Staz was initially led as a tea room. Thereafter, it was enlarged bit by bit by the owner of the times, and gradually developed into a hotel. It has attracted guests from near and far since the very beginning – which is not surprising on viewing its privileged position on the shores of the legendary Stazersee.
Lake Staz was considered THE place to bathe already at the beginning of the twentieth century. And various placards from the 20’s and 30’s, together with a number of photographs, bear witness to the popularity of this enchanting spot. Highly interesting is also the bathing fashion of the times – striped one-piece costumes and ceremonial changing tents to protect bathing beauties from prying eyes!
